Tribute bands salute music of Green Day, Blink-182 at free show

Courtesy photo The Conejo Recreation and Park District’s free Summer Concerts in the Park series continues with two punk-rock tribute bands from 5 to 7 p.m. Sun., Aug. 13 in the natural amphitheater at Conejo Community Park, 1175 Hendrix Ave., Thousand Oaks.

First up in the family-friendly show will be Green Today with a tribute to 1990s rock band and 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Green Day.

Green Today’s set list includes “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life ),” “American Idiot,” “When I Come Around,” “Wake Me When September Ends” and “Basket Case.”

Following intermission, Blink-180TRUE will present a show covering songs from Blink-182’s hit era from 1995 to 2003.

The three-piece pop-punk tribute act will wear the same attire, crack the same jokes and perform the same stage antics as the original group. Blink- 180TRUE’s set list includes “First Date,” “All the Small Things” and “What’s My Age Again.”

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees can bring blankets or folding chairs as well as picnics. Sweaters are recommended. Leave pets at home.

The Conejo Center staff will sell $1 hot dogs and snow cones.

Event parking is off-site only. On-site parking will be reserved for cars displaying handicap placards until the lot is full.

The final summer concert will be presented by the Thousand Oaks Acorn on Labor Day, Mon., Sept. 4 featuring Melvin Seals and JGB (Jerry Garcia Band). For more information, go to www.crpd.org/concerts.
