City Council should appoint Adam
The Feb. 16 Thousand Oaks Acorn headlined the abrupt resignation of Mr. Dennis Gillette from the Thousand Oaks City Council, after serving less than 15 months into a four-year term. This was a real shock.
We were also very surprised and sorry to learn about Mr. Gillette’s anticipated long-term health problems. Hopefully, he will rally, make and enjoy a full recovery.
Mr. Gillette won the last election over runner-up Mr. Al Adam by a mere 140 votes. In our opinion, there is absolutely no need for a new election to decide who Mr. Gillette’s replacement should be.
Since our city’s voting community expressed their wishes in such a close race less than 14 months ago, this important decision takes only some common sense.
Without question, our current City Council should appoint Mr. Al Adam as the new member of their stellar group.
