Works of former Moorpark College art professor on display in T.O.
FLOWER BONES—The works of Frank Sardisco, a former Moorpark College professor, are on display at the Conejo Valley Art Museum on the Janss Marketplace.
Courtesy of Conejo Valley Art Museum An art exhibit, the Frank Sardisco Collection, will run through Sun., April 15 at the Conejo Valley Art Museum at the Janss MarketPlace, 275 N. Moorpark Road, Ste, 193C, Thousand Oaks.
The museum hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free.
Frank Sardisco was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y., the youngest of six children of Sicilian immigrant parents. The family lost its home during the Depression, and the Sardiscos moved to the Los Angeles area in 1943.
Frank Sardisco won several awards for his art in grammar school. He graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. After serving in the Army, he used his G.I. Bill to attend the Art Center College of Design and then went to Otis Art Institute, where he received a full scholarship and an MFA.
He taught at Woodbury University, Ventura College and then served at Moorpark College from 1968 until his retirement.
After Sardisco died in 2006, his widow, Joy, donated some of his work to the Conejo Valley Art Museum.
