Forum looks at Planned Parenthood
A community forum will examine the attacks on Planned Parenthood over the past year at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 24 at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park.
Brianna Eardley-Pryor, director of public affairs for Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties, will discuss “What’s Behind the Demonization of Planned Parenthood: How Lies and Myths Are Undermining Women’s Self-Determination.”
Nan Yamane, Ph.D., a women’s history professor at Cal State Northridge, will also participate in the forum.
The forum will discuss recent state legislative bills across America seeking to restrict reproductive healthcare and efforts by the U.S. House of Representatives to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood and the Title X Family Planning Program.
Eardley-Pryor said she will stress during her presentation that more than 95 percent of Planned Parenthood’s services provide cancer screenings, birth control, prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, annual exams, breast exams and sexual health education.
The forum is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted.
