AAUW event to highlight famous women in history

AAUW Thousand Oaks will present a program on Women’s History Month on Wed., March 14 in the community room, Grant Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. School age children are especially invited.

The theme is “Women’s Education—Women’s Empowerment: Recognizing the pioneering leadership of women and their impact on education.”

The 2012 Profiles of Women portrayals will be from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a screening of the “Seneca Falls” documentary film from 7 to 8 p.m.

The event will begin promptly at 6 p.m. due to the library closure at 8 p.m.

Home-schooled students in grades six through eight and middle school students in conjunction with One Spark Academy of Thousand Oaks will portray and discuss various noteworthy women. The featured women are Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, Grace Murray Hopper, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, Caroline Jones, Dorothy Kamenshek and Juliette Low.
