First exhibit at new CLU gallery stars turn-of-thecentury bronze sculptures

California Lutheran University will host a reception for its inaugural exhibit, “Highlights and Selections,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Sat., Feb. 11 at the new William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art on campus at 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

On display through Sat., March 10, “Highlights and Selections” features late 19th and early 20th century bronze sculptures, and oil and watercolor paintings. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

The bronze series “Epic of the Plains Indians” by Harold Shelton depicts the life of a Native American.

A 1980 Grant King Indy 500 race car with an original Drake- Offy engine is also showcased.

A “Tea and Talk” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., Feb. 25 will feature sculptor David L. Spellerberg. The Westlake Village artist created the bronze statue of a football player that stands outside the new gallery.

Admission is free to the gallery and to the events.
