Classical concert pianist in town for solo show this Sunday

Alexander Wasserman is Oak Park native

The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic will sponsor a solo piano recital featuring concert pianist Alexander Wasserman at 7 p.m. Sun., Jan. 29 at the philharmonic’s recital hall in the Paseo Market Place shopping center, 3753 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Wasserman, now of Atlanta, was a former featured soloist with the T.O. Philharmonic.

Wasserman was raised in Oak Park. He earned an undergraduate degree in piano performance from the Thornton School of Music at USC, a Graduate Performer’s Certifi- cate at the Cleveland Institute of Music, a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and a doctorate from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

After moving to Atlanta, he is establishing a career as a concert solo pianist and collaborative artist.

Wasserman will perform works by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Ravel and Bloch.

Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 6 p.m.

The cost is $10 for students and $20 for general.
