County libraries encourage all residents to sign up for library cards

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month, observed since 1987, and the Ventura County Library wants to make sure all county residents of Ventura County have a library card.

“Your library card is the most important school supply of all,” says Ventura County Library director Jackie Griffin. “Today’s libraries are thriving technology hubs on which millions rely as either their first or only choice for computer and Internet access. As such, libraries provide patrons with not only the tools to be literate, but to be information literate as well.”

To get a library card, go to a Ventura County Library, complete the library card application form and present it at the circulation desk along with picture identification showing current street address.

For more information, call the Ventura County Library’s Web librarian Barbara Eales at (805) 641-4448 or go to www .vencolibrary.org.
