Healthy eating gets emphasis

To help families take an active role in promoting healthy eating and help spark a nutritional interest among children, the Thousand Oaks Farmers Market invites parents and school-aged children to come to the market, sample the items and talk to the many farmers who bring the food directly from the field to the market.

“We feel it’s very important to help educate families about good, wholesome nutrition,” said Karen Wetzel Schott, operations manager for the Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market Association. “Families will find a number of lunch bag favorites with ample amounts of fruits and vegetables available now through the fall.”

The market meets from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at The Oaks mall, at the east end parking lot, Wilbur Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Thousand Oaks.
