Lambo traded to Pittsburgh
Former Newbury Park High baseball star Andrew Lambo is no longer in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ organization. Lambo, who turns 22 on Aug. 11, was shipped to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a trade deadline deal involving journeyman relief pitcher Octavio Dotel. The transaction sent Lambo— who was hitting .271 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 47 games with the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts—and reliever James McDonald to Pittsburgh for Dotel. Lambo, once considered one of the finest prospects in baseball, was suspended 50 games earlier this season for a positive drug test, reportedly for marijuana.
The former Panther is now on the Altoona Curve’s roster.
