More than 5,400 students have been awarded almost $30 million in scholarship support from the University of Idaho for the 2010- 11 academic year.

Twenty-two new National Merit Scholars and 13 state of Idaho Promise category A recipients are expected to join the university this fall.

Students receiving scholarships from California include Holly Elizabeth Brown of Camarillo and Megan Marie White of Thousand Oaks.

Founded in 1889, the University of Idaho is the state’s flagship higher-education institution and its principal graduate education and research university.
