Screenwriter to lecture at Chabad of Ventura
David N. Weiss, award-winning screenwriter of “Shrek 2” and Sony’s upcoming “Smurfs Movie,” will present an evening of personal and professional stories in “Hollywood to Holywood, the Wild Spiritual Ride of a Hollywood Screenwriter,” at 8:30 p.m. Fri., July 30 at the Chabad Center of Ventura, 5040 Telegraph Road.
The evening will begin with an exclusive Shabbat dinner at 7 p.m.
Weiss will discuss his spiritual journey from secular Jew to Christian youth worker to observant Jew.
With writing partner J. David Stem, Weiss also co-wrote The Rugrats movies, “Clockstoppers,” “Are We There Yet?” and the Academy Award-nominated “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.” The two were nominated for an Emmy as head writers for “The Rugrats” series.
The cost for the evening, including a gourmet dinner, is $50. For the presentation only, the cost is $18. Only prepaid advanced reservations will be accepted; no walk-ins will be allowed.
