Topic will be urban carnivores

National Park Service wildlife ecologist Seth Riley will give a lecture about the new book “Urban Carnivores: Ecology, Conflict and Conservation” at 2 p.m. Sat., July 10 at the National Park Service Visitor Center, 401 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Several of the chapters are based on carnivore research done in the Santa Monica Mountains and other regions in Southern California.

Riley will discuss the impact that urbanization has on mountain lions, bobcats and coyotes in the Santa Monica Mountains region and present updated information about the ongoing wildlife studies conducted in the mountains on mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes and other small mammals.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and there will be a book signing after the program.
