Conejo Free Clinic names new officers to its board

The board of directors of the Conejo Free Clinic recently elected Evan Friedmann as president and CEO of the nonprofit organization, replacing Ed Garnett, who had served for the past two years.

Judy Mann Hillis was elected to the board as vice president. Secretary Diane Blindbury and treasurer Frank Baldino were reelected to the board.

Friedmann has been a resident of Thousand Oaks for 38 years and has served on several local and national nonprofit boards. Friedmann has volunteered at the clinic for four years and had served two years on the board.

Friedmann started California Data Corporation in 1975 and was CEO. He was responsible for business development, management and product development for products involving precision robotics, computers, control systems and instrumentation.

Friedmann, now retired, has been married to Katie for 45 years and they have two grown children. Daughter Gale FriedmannGarofalo and her husband, Frank, live in Camarillo. Their son and daughter-in-law Brian and Lisa Friedmann reside in Simi Valley.

The clinic has seen an increase of nearly 50 percent this past quarter due to high unemployment.

The clinic’s services are used by the working poor, uninsured, underinsured, unemployed, single parent households and students.
