Chabad of Conejo hosts gala banquet

Chabad of the Conejo will celebrate “The Dawning of a New Day” at its annual gala banquet at 5:30 p.m. Mon., June 14 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Two Dole Drive, Westlake Village. The event will mark the Chabad’s 31st anniversary in the Conejo Valley.

Entertainment at the gala will include a concert with Israeli singer Jimmy Gamilei and Hollywood comedian Elon Gold.

A progress report on the construction of the new Center for Jewish Life will be given. A video on the process to date and details of the developments will be shared.

Chabad will pay tribute to three honorees. Rony and Michele Havive will receive the Torch of Light Award. Bernard and Deborah Warshauer will receive the Chesed Award, and Samuel and Justine Racoof will be given the Young Leadership Award.

Chabad opened in 1979 in a small office in Westlake Village and has expanded with the Conejo Jewish Academy in Agoura Hills, Chabad centers in several cities and the Mei Menachem Mikvas Devorah (ritual bath for women).

Chabad founded the Friendship Circle for special needs children and the Sunshine Club for senior citizens.
