The Conejo Valley chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) introduced its 2010 debutantes as part of its annual new member and debutante announcement tea on May 16 at Sherwood Country Club. The debutantes, along with the senior ticktockers, have contributed more than 9,900 collective hours during their six-year membership in NCL. Incoming new ticktockers and their mothers were also presented. National Charity League is a nonprofit, mother-daughter organization supporting local community agencies and charities. The Conejo Valley Chapter assists 13 philanthropies in this area. It raises money through its annual Day of Giving fundraiser and the Thousand Oaks thrift shop Fibber McGee’s Closet. In addition, college scholarships are awarded to young women—not NCL members—at local high schools.

Lauren Michelle Barnett Working together, mothers and daughters experience the rewards of volunteering their time and energy to help others. Girls typically enter the program as seventh-graders and continue through their senior year, when they may choose to become debutantes. This year’s debutantes have made a large contribution to Conejo Valley. In celebration of their six years of service, they’ll be presented at the Conejo Valley Chapter’s National Charity League Ball in November at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village. McKenna Lee Furgurson Lauren Michelle Barnett

Lauren Michelle Barnett attends Thousand Oaks High School, where she’s in the health sciences majors program, is team captain of the water polo and swim teams and is a member of Link Crew. She’s a four-year varsity athlete, an MVP in varsity water polo and swimming, and is an All-American and League Champion swimmer. She also represented the U.S. as part of a swim team that competed in Australia. In addition to NCL, Lauren volunteers at the Westminster Free Clinic. She plans to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall, where she’ll major in biological sciences and pursue a career in neonatology. Lauren is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jeffrey Barnett of Newbury Park.

McAuley Elizabeth Cahill McKenna Lee Furgurson

McKenna Lee Furgurson attends Oaks Christian High School, where she’s on the varsity tennis team and is a member of the orchestra. She has participated in College Counseling Prefect Leadership, Lion’s Voice and mock trial. She’s on the Honors Headmaster’s list, National Honor Society and is a Top 10 Scholar. McKenna has participated in the Costa Rica, China and Mexico mission trips, and she participated in the Dream Center and Operation Smile. She will attend the University of Notre Dame to study biology. McKenna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilton Furgurson of Malibu.

Madison Gray Dahlke McAuley Elizabeth Cahill

McAuley Elizabeth Cahill attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of the National Honor Society, is a fouryear cheerleader and four-year scholar-athlete. She has served as the secretary of the senior class, secretary of the Student Scholarship Foundation and member of the Spanish Honors Society. McAuley will attend UC Santa Barbara, where she’ll major in business or environmental science. She’s the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Eroe Cahill of Westlake Village. Madison Gray Dahlke

Drew Nicole Edell Madison Gray Dahlke attends Westlake High School, where she lettered in varsity soccer. She enjoys playing guitar, singing and wakeboarding. She’ll attend college in the fall. Madison is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tad Dahlke of Westlake Village.

Drew Nicole Edell attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of Students Against Drunk Driving and Junior State of America. She was a junior varsity soccer player in her freshman and sophomore years, a California Scholarship Federation Gold Seal Bearer, a member of the mock trial team and is an AP scholar. In the fall, Drew plans to go to UCLA, where she’ll major in communications and pursue a career in business communications. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Stuart Edell of Westlake Village.

Krista Jane Dyer

Krista Jane Dyer Krista Jane Dyer attends Westlake High School, where she’s been a junior varsity and varsity cheerleader, a scholar-athlete and a member of the California Scholarship Federation. Krista has been involved in Junior State of America and Earth Club, and spent a summer in Paris through AFS, learning about Parisian culture and language. In the fall, she’ll major in business at the University of Wisconsin and pursue a career in law. Krista is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Leslie Dyer of Westlake Village.

Amanda Hale Feinberg

Amanda Hale Feinberg attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of California Scholarship Federation and is an AP scholar. She’s a Ryman Art scholar and has been involved with Feed the Homeless since the second grade. Amanda will attend UCLA and major in fine arts in the fall. She is the daughter of Mrs. Jill Lori Schachtel of Westlake Village.

Amanda Hale Feinberg Kelsey Cristyn Bartlett

Kelsey Cristyn Bartlett attends Westlake High School, where she’s active in the choral music department. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and the National Youth Leadership Forum. Kelsey plans to attend Moorpark College and then transfer to the University of Southern California as a sophomore. She plans to pursue a career in neonatology and volunteer her services in Africa. Kelsey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Bartlett of Westlake Village.

Colleen Marie Murphy

Colleen Marie Murphy attends La Reina High School, where she’s the National Honor Society president, senior class vice president and sprints captain of track and field. Colleen founded the Cooking Club at La Reina and set the school record in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay races. She’s an AP scholar, a member of the California Scholarship Federation and an Academic All League first team in track. Colleen is also a representative for the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation and the Youth Citizenship Seminar. She received the St. Michael’s College Book Award and is a volunteer coordinator at St. Jude’s. She’ll study international relations and communications at the University of California at Berkeley in the fall, and plans to pursue a career in advertising. Colleen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terrence Hyde Murphy of Westlake Village.

Kelsey Cristyn Bartlett Katelyn Elizabeth Grossman

Katelyn Elizabeth Grossman attends Westlake High School, where she was a member of the California Scholarship Federation in 2006-07 and received the Stellar Student Award for Scholastic Excellence this year. Katelyn will attend California State University Long Beach with a major in business. She hopes to pursue a career in business management and marketing. Katelyn is the daughter of Mrs. Patricia Lynne Stroh and Mr. Neal Grossman of Westlake Village.

Colleen Marie Murphy Lindsay Kathryn Grossman

Lindsay Kathryn Grossman attends Westlake High School, where she’s active in the Ambassador, Interact and Finding a Cure clubs, as well as the Student Scholarship Foundation. She was on the National Grand Champion Dance Team as well as lettered in dance, and was a scholar-athlete for three years. Lindsay was on the honor roll all four years of high school, was student of the month in mathematics, is an AP scholar, and she won the Stellar Student Award for Scholastic Excellence this year. She plans to attend San Diego State University, majoring in business, and will pursue a career in business finance and accounting. Lindsay is the daughter of Mrs. Patricia Lynne Stroh and Mr. Neal Grossman of Westlake Village.

Hannah Danielle Englander attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of the National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation and mock trial team. She took first place in the Mock Trial Witness, Ventura County Competition, and was a scholar-athlete for two years. Hannah plans to attend the University of Arizona in the fall. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Leonard Englander of Westlake Village.

Alexandra Greer Imperato

Alexandra Greer Imperato attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of the dance team, which won the National Championship for Dance in 2009. Alexandra was also national champion in the Retter’s Academy of Dance Senior Company. She’s a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and is active on the Support for the Kids Teen Council and the ALS Association/Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Alexandra will attend the University of Arizona, where she will double major in psychology/communication and minor in dance. Haley Rose McCormick attends Oaks Christian High School, where she’s on the dive team and the honor roll. She recently organized a team walk for multiple sclerosis. Haley plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder and pursue a career in psychology with emphasis in children and troubled teens. Haley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Roland McCormick of Westlake Village.

Hannah Danielle Englander Casey Jordan Levitt

Casey Jordan Levitt attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of the National Honor Society, the California Scholarship Federation, WHS Scholarship Foundation and SADD Club, as well as a student in advanced anatomy. Casey played volleyball all four years of high school and was captain for three years. She’s a two-time winner of the Westlake Warrior Award, and she played soccer for Westlake High for two years and was captain for one year. She also played club volleyball and club soccer. Casey was a member of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, was vice president of the Screen Actors Guild Looking Ahead Leadership Council, and she attended the National Young Leader’s Conference and Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference and Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. She will attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where she’ll study biomedical engineering. Casey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Steven Levitt of Thousand Oaks.

Kathryn Rose McElroy attends Westlake High School, where she’s vice president of ROP work experience and captain of the soccer team. Shawn Haley McLeod attends Westlake High School, where she’s the senior class treasurer and president of the Student Scholarship Foundation. She runs varsity track and field and is a scholarathlete. She was honored for academic excellence in visual arts and is an AP scholar with honor. Shawn also received a volunteer award at Los Robles Hospital. She plans to attend UC Santa Barbara with a major in biology and pursue a career as a pediatric physician. Shawn is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James William McLeod of Lake Sherwood.

Melissa Marie Johnson attends Westlake High School, where she’s a member of Finding a Cure Together and the Student Scholarship Federation. She played varsity volleyball and basketball and played club volleyball for three years. Last year, Melissa attended the Junior Olympics in Miami. She plans to attend Moorpark College, majoring in business marketing, and will continue to play volleyball and paint and draw. She plans to pursue a career in product design and advertising. Jacqueline Joyce Merkle attends Westlake High School, where she participates in cross country, track and field, and dance. In addition to NCL, Jacqueline volunteers at the Sunrise Retirement Home and participates in beach cleanups. She’ll attend California State University Northridge, majoring in business. Jacqueline is the daughter of Mrs. Linda Dawn Merkle of Thousand Oaks and Bernard William Merkle Jr. of Evergreen, Colo.

Katherine Carol Melissa Pincus

Katherine Carol Melissa Pincus attends Westlake High School, where she was ASG secretary, junior class president and a member of Spanish Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation and Student Scholarship Foundation. She was a cheerleader and scholar-athlete all four years at Westlake High School. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and received the Thousand Oaks Youth Commission Award. Katherine participates in Relay for Life and Heal the Bay activities. She plans to study psychology at San Diego State University and pursue a career in psychology research. Alexandra Elizabeth SkewesCox attends Thousand Oaks High School, where she danced for four years in the TOHS dance program. She was a member of Key Club and Link Crew; she tutored and was Link Crew coordinator. Alexandra plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder, majoring in journalism. Nicole Suzanne Stelmar attends Westlake High School, where she’s senior class president and National Honor Society treasurer and was treasurer of the 10th- and 11th-grade classes. She’s a three-year varsity dance scholar-athlete, National Merit Commended Scholar and AP scholar with distinction. She received the Thousand Oaks Youth Commission Volunteer Award, was co-captain of Relay for Life and participated in Frank’s Homeless Project. Nicole plans to attend Notre Dame University and major in English. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Stelmar of Westlake Village.

Melissa Marie Johnson Samantha Marchal Stiegler attends Oaks Christian High School, where she’s on the honor roll and is a varsity cheerleader and on the varsity dive team. Samantha is a co-founder of the D’Anthea Foundation and has taken mission trips to China and Uganda. She’ll attend Marymount Manhattan in New York City and study journalism. Megan Elizabeth Winer attends Westlake High School, where she’s president of the Student Scholarship Foundation and president of Fighting Against Cancer Together. She’s varsity captain of the girls’ tennis team. Megan has received the Thousand Oaks Youth Commission Award for community service and was voted “Most Inspirational” by the girls’ tennis team. She was also a Special Olympics tennis coach. Megan will attend the University of Colorado at Boulder and major in business.
