Travel to Africa for evening with Church of the Epiphany

The Church of the Epiphany will present “About Africa,” a family concert by Paul Tracey that showcases the music and culture of African peoples, at 3 p.m. Sat., April 17 at the church, 5450 Churchwood Drive, Oak Park.

The event begins with a gathering time with snacks before the show.

The performance is part of the 2009-2010 season for “Music at The Church of the Epiphany,” an annual series of recitals, concerts and choral services.

Known as “the wandering minstrel,” Tracey was born in South Africa, the son of the founder of the International Library of African Music. An international performer, he has appeared on Broadway and American television and written songs for the Muppets.

“About Africa” introduces audiences to the continent’s languages, costumes, dance, and stories. Tracey’s performance uses African instruments and recordings of authentic music. The program is suited for both children and adults.
