Residents gather to add safety, beauty to Casa Conejo

The Casa Conejo Municipal Advisory Council will have a public meeting at 6 p.m. Wed., March 17 at Walnut Elementary School, 581 Dena Drive, Newbury Park.

Residents of unincorporated Newbury Park who recently completed training to form a new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be honored.

Battalion Chief Steve Winter of the Ventura County Fire Protection District will join CERT coordinator Dr. Ramona Armijo, fire inspector, CERT instructor Alan Perry and Supervisor Linda Parks to present the residents with graduation certificates.

The new organization is a step toward improving emergency preparedness in Casa Conejo.

Also participating in the meeting will be the Ventura County Animal Regulation Department’s deputy director Donna Gillesby, assisted by officer Jennifer Thaler. They will give an informative presentation about the work of animal regulation and will answer questions.

Other topics for the meeting include tips from California American Water Company on how to cut water bills and updates on the Neighborhood Watch program and public works issues in Casa Conejo.

Representatives of the CHP and the sheriff’s department will also be on hand.

The finalized agenda of the meeting will be available 72 hours before the meeting and can be accessed at www.ventura.org.

The MAC meetings provide a forum for residents of Casa Conejo to discuss issues of land use, neighborhood beautification, roadways and other infrastructure, and make recommendations to the board of supervisors.

Casa Conejo is bounded by Borchard Road, Old Conejo Road and the 101 Freeway in the unincorporated area of Newbury Park and has a population of approximately 3,000 residents and 1,000 homes.
