Nature camp focuses on science, environment

Reservations are being accepted for the three sessions of Mountains Restoration Trust’s summer Discovery Nature Camp. Children ages 8 to 12 years old can participate in experiences with a strong science and environment focus. 

Campers will discover the wonders of nature with the aid of scientific tools, hands-on activities, crafts, games and guest speakers.

Each day will be centered on a different theme and include a guided hike, related craft and occasional field trips. 

Each session is Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3815 Old Topanga Canyon Road, Calabasas.

Session 1 : June 21 through 25. Astronomy, reptiles and amphibians, outdoor survival, stream ecology, field trip to Malibu Lagoon State Beach.

Session 2 : July 19 through 23. Mammals, insects, endangered and threatened species, field trip to Channel Islands Visitor Center, geology.

Session 3: Aug. 16 through 20. Native American culture, birds, paleontology, field trip to the Natural History Museum, ecology.
