Training camps at Newbury, T.O. highs
There are a pair of Nike SPARQ training camps in the Conejo Valley during the next two months.
The first four-week session runs through March 20 at Newbury Park High. The second camp takes place on Saturdays from March 27 through April 17 at Thousand Oaks High.
Players will be instructed by professional strength and conditioning coaches Robert Steele and Ty Twine on proper techniques for the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, shuttle drill and powerball toss.
Participants will go through Nike SPARQ training football drills to improve speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness.
There is a $160 sign-up fee. According to Steele, proceeds will be directed to booster clubs at each school.
The events are open to youth and high school players. Participants will be eligible to attend the free Nike football combine competition April 24th in L.A.
