Smart students don’t need ‘good luck’
HARD WORK PAYS OFF–Colina Middle School students, from left, Maryam Tebyani, Amy Chavez and Alice Neary, all 13, hold hands in anticipation as they wait for the final award announcements. They participated last Saturday in the Southern California finals of the “We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution” program at the Reagan Library. More than 150 students from five middle schools in Southern California competed. Participants displayed their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Thirty-eight eighth-graders from Los Cerritos Middle School and 34 from Colina competed. Colina took second-place. See related photo on page 16. WENDY PIERRO/Acorn Newspapers
