Local author Margaret Brownley will be the featured speaker for the Ventura County Writers Club at 7 p.m. Tues., Feb. 9 at Borders bookstore, 125 W. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

Brownley has written more than 23 published books in a variety of genres and more than 400 articles for different magazines.

She will speak on “How to Knock Off Their Socks!” when writing book proposals to agents. Brownley will discuss how writers can create the best pitch for their project.

Nicole Criona and Sanora Bartels, founders of L.A. Writers Group, will also speak on “Starter Blocks versus Writer’s Block: Three Ways to Remove Obstacles from Your Creative Path.”
