Police catch juvenile in the act of vandalizing a local middle school
Deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Station responded to a call reporting suspicious activity taking place on the grounds of Redwood Middle School, 233 W. Gainsborough Road, at about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 16.
Upon their arrival, deputies heard what sounded like spray paint being used. The deputies reported seeing one of four juveniles spray painting a wall at the school. When the deputies ordered the subjects to stop what they were doing and to remain in place, the teens began to run toward an open area. One of the subjects, a 17-year-old boy, was caught and arrested at the scene. The others escaped.
Upon further examination of the scene, deputies discovered a large amount of graffiti on the school building and a row of lockers.
The juvenile that was captured was charged with vandalism and conspiracy to commit a crime. He was cited and released to his parents.
The investigation is continuing, and further arrests are anticipated.
