Art Guild has full schedule
The Westlake Village Art Guild will present programs in January at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331-A Borchard Road, Newbury Park.

•Award-winning artist Carolyn Counnas will give an oil painting demonstration on “The Seven Principles to Create Depth in Your Paintings” from 3 to 5 p.m. Sat., Jan. 9.
The fee is $5. Light refreshments will be served, and one guest will win the painting that Counnas creates during the demo.
•Paso Robles artist Lynn Kishiyama will lead a two-day abstract/mixed media collage workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tues. and Wed., Jan. 12 and 13.
The cost is $185 for both days. The class is limited to 12 students.
The workshop will explore color theory, basic design concepts and how to choose materials to achieve the abstract effect desired. Participants will complete an original, ready-to-frame collage during the workshop.
•Carolyn Counnas will present a workshop, “Add Drama, Focus and Fearless Color to Your Oil Paintings,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Jan. 23.
The fee is $99 plus a $20 materials fee for all supplies except brushes. Participants should bring their own brushes. Reservations are requested by Jan. 18 by calling (805) 807-1841.
The workshop will demonstrate the techniques used to develop paintings with strong values and solid compositions. Participants will explore the secrets to mixing color.
