Young local musicians to play at Civic Arts Plaza
The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic will perform OPUS 26 at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Jan. 8 at the Camarillo United Methodist Church and at 7 p.m. Sun., Jan. 10 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in the Forum Theatre.
The Philharmonic is a nonprofit organization that was founded to give local young artists professional performance experience. The performance will feature eight young musicians from Ventura County and neighboring communities who will be supported by a full professional symphony orchestra led by conductor Richard Rintoul. Additional concerts in the OPUS series will be in May and July.
The youths performing are Jamiee Cao, Megan Ervin, Noah Fields and Kevin Ye of Thousand Oaks; Yasha Yahknis and More Song of Newbury Park; and Jason Chen and Andrew Chen of
Oak Park.
A pre-concert dinner fundraiser will begin at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at Fiamme Restaurant and Bar, 3731 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
Tickets for the Camarillo concert are a suggested donation of $5 for students and seniors, $10 general admission. The church is at 291 Anacapa Drive.
Tickets for the Thousand Oaks concert are $25 general admission, $15 for seniors 60 and older, and $10 for students. Remaining tickets will be sold in the lobby beginning at 1:30 p.m. on the day of the performance.
The pre-concert threecourse wine-paired dinner is $50 per person, all-inclusive. For reservations, call the toll-free number listed above. Seating is limited. A major portion of the cost is tax-deductible.
