County jobs need to include required qualifications

Ventura County Supervisors have a fiduciary responsibility to the county residents to attract and hire the most qualified candidates in county management. They can begin by passing a long overdue government code identifying basic qualifications required for all county leadership positions.

Critical economic conditions face our county, state and nation. All three face mounting deficits. All require qualified, capable leaders to meet these fiscal challenges. Appropriate education and years of demonstrated leadership experience in related fiscal fields are essential for future success.

I strongly urge the supervisors to rise and make a statement supporting and pass a government code that calls for education and demonstrated experience for all fiscal management positions.

Let’s make things right for Ventura County.
