Holiday celebrations open to the public

California Lutheran University will host two special observances in December. Both are open to the community.

•CLU’s annual Kwanzaa celebration will feature a student-led ceremony and performances by the NAACP Saturday School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Dec. 5 in Lundring Events Center in the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center at Olsen Road and Campus Drive, Thousand Oaks.

The celebration will include authentic African and AfricanAmerican food, gospel music, dancers and vendors selling arts and crafts.

The NAACP Saturday School, the Afro-Centric Committee of Ventura County and CLU’s Black Student Union and Multicultural and International Programs office are sponsoring the event.

•The seventh annual Hanukkah celebration will be at 4:30 p.m. Tues., Dec. 8 in the Student Union building, north side of Memorial Parkway, Thousand Oaks.

The event will have music, Hanukkah food such as latkes and jelly doughnuts, dreidel games and a traditional menorah-lighting ceremony.

CLU’s Multicultural and International Programs and Hillel Student Organization are sponsoring the free event. For more information, call the Multicultural Programs office at the number listed above.
