Christmas tree exhibit opens

The Reagan Library presents its annual “Christmas Around the World” exhibit through Jan. 10 at the museum, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The display will feature 27 decorated trees representing the 26 countries that President Reagan visited while in office, celebrating each country’s holiday traditions, as well as a White House tree.

The decorations include the festive colors of the Caribbean, the crystals of the Nordic countries and the traditional decorations of England and Europe. The Vatican tree is decorated entirely with white ornaments, along with a lifesize white peacock on the branches.

The featured tree is a reproduction of Reagan’s White House tree complete with “Reagan red” decorations and dozens of hand

blown glass ornaments. The exhibit also includes personal gifts from heads of state and other dignitaries who met with Reagan and participated in the tradition of a gift exchange.

A collection of handcrafted menorahs that were given to Reagan while in the White House will also be on display. The library will offer extended viewing hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Jan. 10. The museum will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Regular museum admission applies to view the Christmas exhibit.

The costs are $12 for general admission, $9 for seniors 62 and up, $3 for children ages 11 to 17, and free for children 10 and under. For more information, call (800) 410-8354.
