Please support a new charter school for local students

Many hours were spent this past summer by a group of parents and educators to develop the vision of Bridges Charter School. This group has put together a proposal for a public school that they would like to attend, a school dedicated to educating the whole child with not only factual knowledge but also with the ability to effectively interact with others and solve problems.

Some of the most exciting aspects of the charter proposal are:

1. Bridges will expand the availability of the whole child educational philosophy, providing spaces for students who haven’t been able to get into the current K-6 program due to space limitations.

2. As a charter school, Bridges will have the ability to hire teachers based on their qualifications and abilities, as opposed to tenure alone.

3. Bridges will have its own principal, dedicated solely to the school’s whole child philosophy.

4. Bridges will expand the options available to middle school students by establishing the area’s first middle school program founded on whole child education.

5. Bridges will provide a home school alliance which will provide home-schoolers in Conejo Valley with local educational resources.

Please join me in building Bridges for the students of Conejo Valley.

The proposed charter will be discussed at the next public meeting of Conejo Valley Unified School District on Nov 3.
