Music4Meals concert will present eclectic mix of music for food

Music4Meals, a concert to promote donations for local food pantries, will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 19 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 W. Avenida de los Arboles, Thousand Oaks.

The event will be on the church grounds in front of the sanctuary, weather permitting.

A variety of musical groups will perform ’50s and ’60s songs, contemporary pop, ’70s and ’80s music, and Christian rock. Bands will include The Shades featuring Johnny Garcia and Chris Marasco as guitarists and singers.

The public is invited. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food, blankets, pillows or toiletry items to donate to local food pantries. Donations for Lutheran Social Services will also be accepted. Attendees can bring lawn chairs, blankets or seating.

Music4Meals project leaders will be on hand to answer questions. The last Music4Meals event raised a “truckload of food” and $2,020 in cash donations for Lutheran Social Services. The 2009 goal is to meet or exceed those amounts.
