Labor Day family BBQ to promote common values

Valley Interfaith Council will host the annual Labor Day picnic and program on Mon., Sept. 7 at the Northridge United Methodist Church, 9650 Reseda Blvd., Northridge.

The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and SEIU Local 721 will sponsor a family barbecue at 5:30 p.m.

The program will follow at 7 p.m. Kent Wong, director of the UCLA Center for Labor Research and Education, will speak on “Labor at a Crossroad.”

The purpose of this program is to strengthen the connection between the religious and labor communities in support of common values.

The dinner and program are both free, and reservations are not required.
