The White House only wants to hear its proponents

In a recent post on the White House blog, readers were asked to report any e-mail or web article arguing against “Obamacare” that they believed to be “fishy” to an indicated e-mail address.

Many have hastily shouted “Orwellian!” about the request made in this blog post.

However, before forming an opinion about the blog post, one should consider the intentions of the Obamacare staff in this matter. They’re simply trying to understand the arguments of their opponents. The frightening aspect of this post is not the forwarding of chain e-mails or websites.

The post describes many of the opponents of Obamacare as people with “a computer and a lot of free time” who create “scary chain e-mails and videos” and essentially “cherry-pick” quotes to form their argument.

The post also gives the reader assurance that the White House is aware of the truth that these opponents so cleverly hide.

The fact that the White House isn’t only openly mocking and denouncing a large number of its citizens but also asking another portion of its citizens to potentially betray the basic trust involved in sending a personal email is what makes this recent White House blog post truly startling.
