Lemonade stand to help cancer research

Emily Enright of Thousand Oaks will host a fundraiser through Alex’s Lemonade Stand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Sept. 12 at the AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) soccer fields, 23 Freeway and Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

All of the profits will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand to fund cancer research projects in leading pediatric hospitals across the United States and to raise awareness about childhood cancer.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was set up by 4-year-old Alex Scott, who was diagnosed with a rare cancer called neuroblastoma. Alex set up a lemonade stand in her front yard to help her doctors find a cure.

At age 8 Alex died, but she had helped to raise more than $1 million for cancer research. Today, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $25 million and has helped to fund more than 100 research projects across the United States.

Every year more than 200,000 children are diagnosed with some type of childhood cancer.
