Alcoholics Anonymous convention to offer support to addicts and their families

The 42nd annual Alcoholics Anonymous Convention for District 22 of AA will take place Fri. to Sun., Aug. 28 through 30 at Veterans Memorial Hall on Grand Avenue in San Luis Obispo.

The theme is “A New and Wonderful World.”

AA members from all over California and out of state will tell their personal stories of recovery from alcohol addiction through the 12-step process.

Members of both the Alanon and Alateen fellowships will host speaker meetings and marathon meetings to discuss and share their experiences of living with an alcoholic and how these programs help families recover.

Open discussion meetings will take place continuously from Friday evening through the end of the convention at noon Sunday.

Other events include a golf tournament, dance, Saturday barbecue and an Alanon luncheon at the Monday Club on Saturday.
