Thousand Oaks Big League team goes prime time

The Thousand Oaks Big League baseball team reached the Big League World Series championship game.

Pitcher Tyler Karp took a shutout into the seventh inning to help Thousand Oaks upend Ruston (La.) 5-2 during Tuesday night’s national semifinal at Easley, S.C.

With the victory, Thousand Oaks reached the World Series finale of Big League Baseball— a part of Little League for 17- and 18-year-old players—for the fourth time. The squad won its first and only title in 2006.

Thousand Oaks played Bravos de Pontezuela of Santiago, Dominican Republic for the title on Wednesday night. The game was televised nationally on ESPN2.
