T.O. resident joins teaching program
Megan Vroman of Thousand Oaks has joined Teach For America, the national corps of recent college graduates who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools. Vroman will teach in Phoenix.
Vroman is a graduate of Thousand Oaks High School and Texas Christian University.
The incoming corps of 4,100 teachers is the largest in the organization’s 20-year history. From the record 35,000 applications this year, only 15 percent were accepted.
The new recruits were selected for their leadership abilities and strong record of achievement. They earned an average undergraduate GPA of 3.6, and 89 percent took part in leadership positions as undergraduates.
