Hopes for support regarding her mobile home park
First, we residents of Vallecito Mobilehome Park would like to thank the registered voters of Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park for helping us put Erickson's law into effect last year. We needed 7,000 signatures, but with your help we got 11,000. We so appreciate your support.
Now, we're facing another dilemma.
The owners of our park have submitted an application to the city of Thousand Oaks to approve their right to subdivide our park, or in other words, to make it a condo-converted park by letting us buy 1/303rd share of the park. This doesn't mean we own the land, just a share. Plus, we'll lose our rent control, if this is recommended by the planning commission and approved by our City Council.
This could mean that many of our low-income residents will be forced out of their homes because of the higher rents or the lack of funds to buy a share.
Our meeting with the planning commission is scheduled for Mon., June 29 in the Forum auditorium at the Civic Arts Plaza.
Again, your support would be gratefully appreciated. Anne Ryan Newbury Park
