Musical arts camp offered in Westlake

Applications are being accepted for the 17th annual Pizazz summer musical arts camp from Aug. 11 to 15 at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, 1049 S. Westlake Blvd.

The camp will run 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday. The campers will present a 7 p.m. celebration performance on Friday for their parents and friends.

Extended day care is provided for those who need it, for an additional fee.

The program is sponsored by the church's music ministry but is not religious in nature and is open to all children entering grades one to eight in the fall.

This year's theme of "Pizazz Goes to the Movies" will emphasize the magical effect of music in the movies and those who compose it.

A qualified staff presents a variety of musical experiences through singing, hand bell and choir chime ringing, choreographed movement and music enrichment.

Tuition is $125 and includes a $25 nonrefundable application fee. The cost is $25 less if application and full payment are received by June 7. The fee includes snacks each day and a Pizazz Tshirt. Limited scholarship assistance is available.

Applications are accepted on a space-available basis, and a waiting list will be established when maximum enrollment is reached.
