NAMIWalks benefit comes to Ventura

The Ventura County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will host a 5K NAMIWalks for the Mind of America at 10:30 a.m. Sat., May 2 at the Ventura Beach Promenade in Ventura.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. There is no walker registration fee.

The event is a fundraiser for NAMI Ventura County, which provides resources for individuals and families dealing with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, obsessivecompulsive disorder and severe anxiety disorders.

Activities include a mental health fair, inspirational stories, music and refreshments.
