Where were the TEA parties during 8 years of Bush?

2009-04-23 / Letters

I would dearly like to hear from any of the attendees of the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party on Tax Day as to where they've been for the past eight years. In that time, the federal deficit doubled as the policies of a Republican administration spiraled this country into more and more debt and left IOUs for my children's children and collapsed the economy of this great nation.

Could the parents of Elijah Harkless, 5, please tell us whether their son's sign was aimed at George W. Bush?

Somehow I doubt it; it seems that the glut of spending of the past eight years is irrelevant, but the minute a Democrat is in the White House and signing similarly massive spending bills to try and dig the country out of the hole the Republicans put us in, now suddenly we're turning into a socialist nation.

Did these people overlook that Barack Obama is actually cutting taxes for most of them?

The greatest danger to this nation isn't socialism, it's lemmings. Stop watching Fox News; get out there and be part of the solution.

Hold your representatives accountable, push to enforce term limits, push for inclusion of third parties in elections.

Democrats and Republicans are all alike; they're just critical of whoever's in power, and when they achieve power themselves, they embrace the same philosophy- - just for different special interests.

We can be part of the solution but not while we're led so easily by well-funded endeavors such as the April 15 stunt. Richard Browne Thousand Oaks
