Many faiths unite on Day of Prayer

The 10th annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thurs., May 7 at the Gilbert Sports Center at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

Invocators from different faiths will speak at the breakfast.

Participants are the Rev. Craig Beeker, Westlake Lutheran Church; the Rev. Dave Crouse, pastor, Christian Church of the Hills; the Rev. Elroi Reimnitz, Redeemer Lutheran Church; David Price, founder of Oaks Christian School; and Bishop Roger Zierenberg, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, Thousand Oaks Stake.

"The event is an outreach to the community which brings people of all faiths together to pray for the nation and celebrate our country's many blessings," said Rick Politte, president and CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, the event sponsor.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang intervention program in the country.

The master of ceremonies will be Chris Kimball, president of California Lutheran University.

Joe Sikorra and his band will provide music.

A table of 10 is $150 and individual tickets are $15. The price includes a full breakfast.
