B’nai B’rith awards scholarships

2005-08-04 / Community

Haverim B’nai B’rith, one of the largest Jewish organizations in the Conejo Valley, has awarded three local high school seniors $500 scholarships to be used for their college education.

The awards were based on 250-word essays that the students submitted regarding their volunteer service to the community. They had to explain if their service made any change in their lives and had to submit reference letters from their supervisors at the places they volunteered.

Recipients of the Haverim B’nai B’rith Scholarships are: Tiffany (Ping) Chen, Westlake High School; Rupal Shah, Moorpark High School; and Kevin Yavari, Oak Park High School. The awards were presented at each student’s high school Award Night. The students were also recently recognized by Haverim B’nai B’rith during a meeting at Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks.
