Exhibit at Thousand Oaks Community Gallery will appeal to equestrians
Calabasas artist Debra Tivens will exhibit one of the original full-size horses she created for her “The Train of Painted Ponies” series, “Der Ring des Nielungen (The Ring Cycle),” during the Summer Celebration of the Arts through Sat., Aug. 20 at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331 Borchard Road, Newbury Park.
The series title is a nod to her love of music and literature, which served as impetus for her design. Her background is musical: Tivens’ husband was originally a musician, and her daughter, Jessica, an opera singer, recently appeared in the New West Symphony’s production of “Carmen.”
Tivens was recently signed by King Features and Hearst Publications as only the second fine artist in their 100-year history. In addition to her painted pony, several of Tivens’ original canvases will also be on display.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
