Camarillo American Legion Auxiliary Unit 741 recently announced that Meghan Fitch has been selected to attend this year’s Girls Nation from July 23 to 30 in Washington, D.C.

Meghan, the daughter of Stephen and Valerie Fitch of Thousand Oaks, was a delegate to the Girls State event that was conducted at Pitzer College in June.

At Girls Nation, each delegate represents her Girls State as a senator. These young lawmakers caucus, organize committees and conduct hearings on bills submitted by the delegates themselves. The senators are instructed on the proper method of handling legislation according to the rules of the U.S. Senate.
