In L.A., call 399 for roadside assistance

If you’re stuck on the side of the road in the city of Los Angeles or see someone in need of similar assistance, you can now use your cell phone as a callbox to request help. Simply dial 399.

The 399 service is fully staffed by English- and Spanishspeaking operators and is available to provide translation assistance in more than 150 languages. The phone service also is equipped to serve the hearingand speech-impaired.

Motorists with cell phones in Los Angeles can use the service 24 hours a day.

Officials said 399 does not replace 911. Those who require medical, fire department or law enforcement attention should still use 911.
