Lang Ranch Elementary to host summer reading program

Lang Ranch Elementary School will join other schools across the nation in hosting a Summer Reading Incentive Program. These programs were created in response to concerns that young people experience learning losses when they do not engage in educational activities during the summer, according to studies compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

The goal of the program is to have each child at Lang Ranch participate and to read or be read to for 20 minutes each day at least five days a week. The PTA will be offering prizes for readers and can also provide suggestions and reading strategies for parents to use.

For more information and instructions on how to participate in the “Reading Wranglers” program, parents are encouraged to visit the Lang Ranch website at www. c o n e j o . k 1 2 . c a . u s / lang_ranch. Parents should click on and read the “Summer Reading Tips for Parents.”
