Accepts only biblical definition of marriage

I was taken back by your comments about Christians and others who are trying to protect the God-given union between one man and one woman.

You portray Christians as hateful and bigoted. However, in a community where you say the Judeo-Christian work ethic is alive and well (from your editorial in the previous issue), why are you surprised that so many of us want to maintain the words “holy matrimony” for the relationship that God ordained at the beginning of time?

Should we turn our backs on an assault on our faith? We do not believe that marriage is a union controlled and established by any government.Unlike the right to vote and the awful policies of slavery (which you mentioned) that are controlled by principalities, marriage was established by our Lord.

So, with no malice or fear of having a “ninth-grader become a homosexual” I applaud efforts to protect the usage of the word marriage and its definition. Barbara Richert Thousand Oaks
