Golf tourney coming to Lake Sherwood to help American Cancer Society The American Cancer Society will host its second annual Gold Coast Invitational on Mon., July 18 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. Sponsored by Countrywide Home Loans, the invitational has been designed by golf professionals and business leaders to be a premium client entertainment event featuring the best in hospitality, world-class golf and tournament amenities. Foursomes and sponsorship opportunities are still available Again this year, the Gold Coast Invitational will offer the opportunity for players to win a spot in the Lexus Champions For Charity National Championship. Last year, Gold Coast Invitational participant Mark Linehan placed second at the Champions For Charity National Championships at Pebble Beach, winning $8,000 for the American Cancer Society. Along with Countrywide and Lexus, a group of leading business and community leaders are joining together to help the American Cancer Society meet its 2015 goals of reducing cancer incidence by 25 percent, reducing cancer mortality by 50 percent and improving the quality of life for cancer survivors. Sponsors include the Ventura County Star, Gold Coast Broadcasting and KNX News Radio, among others.
