Ackermann earns honor

Oaks Christian’s Peter Ackermann has been named State Softball Coach of the Year by the California Coaches’ Association.

Last spring, Ackermann helped guide the Lion softball squad to a CIF-Southern Section Division 3 championship.

By playing consistent golf, Victor Ponte was brilliant.

An Oaks Christian sophomore, Ponte won the CIF-Southern Section Northern Individual Regional boys’ golf tournament at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo on Monday.

The Lion shot a 2-under 69, taking first place in a tournament that featured 108 golfers.

Westlake’s Cobleigh claims CIF swim crown

Hunter Cobleigh of Westlake High won the boys’ 100-yard breaststroke title at the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 Championships last weekend in Riverside.

Cobleigh, a senior and first-year varsity swimmer, finished the breaststroke race in a school-record 56.39 seconds.
