Camarillo Airport hosts summer aviation academy

The sky’s the limit for area teens this summer.

Channel Islands Aviation will present its Summer Aviation Academy for children ages 12 to 16 beginning June 20 at the Camarillo Airport. The academy is designed to teach teenagers about airplanes and aviation careers.

Weathersfield Elementary School will present its 50th anniversary celebration from 2:35 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 18 on campus at 3151 Darlington Drive, Thousand Oaks.

The event for alumni, students, their families and the community will include a carnival with 50-cent games and a display of memories in the multi-purpose room.

Waterfriendly garden installed at school

California Water Service Company employee volunteers recently celebrated Water Awareness Month by creating a low-water-use garden at Westlake Elementary School.

The conservation garden occupies empty space at the entrance of the school left by the recent removal of two large trees whose roots were encroaching on underground utility mains.
